For this assignment's reading, what intrigued me the most was the invention of the daguerrotype by Louis Jacques Daguerre. His image of the Paris boulevard in 1839 was an amazing accomplishment in being able to capture a still image of real life. What impresses me the most is the amount of detail and clarity that the daguerrotype achieved, especially during its time.
I could only imagine the excitement and awe that Daguerre must have felt when discovering this new and amazing feat. This innovation opened doors for endless possibilities and creative outlets that the world is centered around today. Social media plays a big part in connecting people all around the world and that would not have been possible without the creation of daguerrotypes. Social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook utilize images to allow users to showcase whatever they want. This definitely would not have been possible without daguerrotypes leading the way for photographic advancement.
